The AMA is changing to year-to-date membership renewals. Here are some frequently asked questions about how this will effect you and your club.

What Is The Definition of a Year-to-Date Membership?
Year-to-date membership refers to the beginning date a member joins with the expiration date being one year later. If a member joins in October their membership will expire the end of October the following year.
How Does Year-to-Date Affect Current Members?
If current members renew prior to their current expiration date of December 31, 2015 their membership will continue to expire on December 31, 2016.
If a current member lets their membership expire on December 31, 2015 and they renew any time after December 31, 2015 their membership year will begin whenever they renew. For example: Renewed January 20, 2016 their membership would expire January 31, 2017.
How Does Year-to-Date Affect New Members Joining AMA?
Beginning September 15, 2015 any new members joining AMA their membership will expire one year from their join date. For example: If a new member joins October 15, 2015 their expiration date will be October 31, 2016.
How Will Members Be Notified of Their Expiration Date?
Each member’s expiration date will be printed on their membership card.
Sixty (60) days out from a member’s expiration date, they will begin receiving notification via email and/or mail their membership will soon expire and to renew. If the membership expires, the member will continue to receive email/mail to join until a specified time has elapsed.
How Do Clubs Transition to Year-to-Date Membership?
All club officers will receive a monthly club membership list.
All club officers receive notification of a member’s pending expiration dates 60 days out followed by 30 days then if the membership has expired.
A club’s roster of current members will be available on-line at all times for easy reference.
Each member’s expiration date will be printed on their membership card.
Can I lock-in at my current membership dues rate? YES until 2018 if you renew by September 14!
All you need to do is renew your membership between July 1 and September 14 to lock-in at your current dues rate of $58 for Open or $48 for a Senior membership. You can lock-in for one year or two years. Your membership would expire on December 31, 2016 or 2017 depending if you lock in for one year or two years.
Members who have provided their email address will receive email notification beginning July 1.
You can renew your membership online by going to the AMA website beginning July 1.
You can renew you membership by telephone beginning July 1.
There will be new enrollment form in the August issue of Model Aviation for members who want to use mail.
New members joining the AMA between July 1 and September 14 can join for $58 Open and $48 for Senior memberships and receive the rest of 2015 and all of 2016. Membership would expire December 31, 2016. New members can lock-in for two years as well.
Park Pilot members can lock into the $29.95 rate beginning July 1 through September 14.
